Abstract

Library's today serve many diverse campus and community needs, including offering a vibrant facility hub for patron activities. The 21st century library is combination repository, gathering place, computer lab, help desk, social center, research center, writing center, maker-space, and more. All of these activities requires a safe, clean, and functional physical facility. The University of Tennessee, Chattanooga opened a new library in 2015 that nearly doubled its space and includes many new partner departments. Managing the communication, tracking, and reporting on the maintenance, cleaning, and security of this diverse space proved challenging. This session will focus on steps and best practices established and iterated by the UTC over the last three years that resulted in a student satisfaction rating of 98% with the library facility (1,443 students responding).
