Telling our Story: Marketing Library Services by Painting the Big Picture

Abstract
When all goes well, much the work of Access Services can be invisible to the patron. At Syracuse University Libraries, we've recognized that marketing our services starts with telling our story. Beyond the standard methods of advertising the things we have available, we aim to illustrate how Access Services fit into the bigger picture to contribute to the success of our patrons. , This poster will highlight examples of several opportunities the Access Services Department has created to engage the patron in conversation and provide them with a behind the scenes view of the work we do every day to connect them with the resources and information they need. Through sharing our story with patrons and helping them to see the bigger picture, we are able to truly communicate our value to the community we serve. ,
