Using Interlibrary Loan Data to Evaluate Journal Subscription Decisions
Kate Zdepski
Abstract
This presentation will cover an ongoing collaborative project to evaluate the impact of cancelling our Royal Society of Chemistry journal bundle on interlibrary loan use, faculty research, and library-wide costs. It will also address related opportunities for using interlibrary loan data beyond what is available in pre-generated reports to support and evaluate collections development decisions. Methods for collecting request data for a group of journal titles, comparing COUNTER usage statistics with Interlibrary Loan request numbers, and setting copyright and fees from other libraries alongside subscription costs can be adjusted for any library.
