Abstract

A decade ago, we began to hear that "sitting is the new smoking". Since that time, smoking has been on the decline while sitting has been on the rise. Most librarians could stand to move more and sit less.We sit at our desks for hours, we sit when we Zoom, we sit in our cars, we sit for meals, we sit to watch TV. When do we *not* sit?!, , Punctuating the day with frequent movement makes a big difference. Science says so and so does the anecdotal experience of people who come to realize that a little bit of movement may go farther than an unrealistic exercise plan that eventually gets abandoned., , Attend this session to find out about six easy changes you can make to turn your workspace into an on-the-low movement space, leading to improved mood, enhanced creativity, and less stress --- all of which benefit you and the people with whom you work.
