The Next Generation of Access Services
Abstract
This past year, one medium-sized academic library conducted an internal review of Access Services. This presentation will explore the findings and themes of the review. The review consisted of three parts: an analysis of our internal procedures and policies; an environmental scan examining forward-looking Services; and a literature review highlighting current trends in Services. Key themes emerged from these findings, which may help paint a picture of the next generation of access services: community and partnerships, diversity, accessibility, service as space, self-service, customer service and flexibility.
