Abstract

Access Services practitioners have a combination of technical and public service skills that position us very well to be effective leaders and innovators in the 21st Century Library. As a leader within Access Services, how do you leverage those skills to ensure that you and your staff will be at the forefront of library services as we transition to a truly "any time, any place" digital library environment? This session will provide a conceptual and practical framework of support for future-ready staff development that incorporates effective mentoring, rewards for risk-taking, and encouragement of flexibility and out-of-the-box thinking. Attendees will leave this session with strategies and tools to help them prepare themselves and their staff for a transformative future.
