Abstract

The access department in University of San Diego (USD) has a unique name: Access & Outreach Services (AOS) - it handles not only traditional responsibilities such as Circulation, ILL, Reserves, but also outreach to those on- & off-campus constituencies. This presentation will demonstrate how they reach above and beyond to where needs are, and how they sell the library and its services from the AOS Desk. New services have been marketed out from the AOS Desk, such as RapidILL, Express Books and Get It Now; new strategies have been developed: office visits, on-site demos, and one-on-one assistance; bookmarks, brochures, postcards, and flyers have been created and handed out to diverse users; various workshops are taught by AOS librarians and staff on copyright, research skills, Mobile APPs, to name a few. As users change, so must we- AOS has transformed the way they do business for the 21st Century users.
