Abstract

Receiver apprehension is the anxiety patrons feel when approaching someone for help. There are different types of ways in which people process information, some of which can be a detriment to the person hoping to learn something or just have a question answered. This presentation looks at the different styles of listeners and how staff can utilize this knowledge to better meet the needs of patrons coming to the desk for assistance and in teaching student employees.
