Abstract
The workplace is often a minefield of human emotions and personality types. There are bullies, manipulators, avoiders, liars, criers, and sometimes a**holes. How do you lead and manage in this minefield? Cultivating emotional intelligence is the key to becoming an effective manager that leads compassionately and creates an atmosphere that inspires staff to succeed. , The good news is that emotional intelligence can be learned. We can retrain our brains to react differently. This is not about just dealing with conflict, though it will help you deal with conflict and it's not just about being "nice." It is about developing skills to help you navigate the landscape of human emotions including your own.,
